Pay TV Subscribers Forecast in the EU 28, 2015-2025

The number of Pay TV subscribers in the EU28 region rose to almost 137 million in the fourth quarter of 2015. According to our forecasts, the total number of subscribers will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2% from 2015 to 2025, reaching 169 million by 2025.
 IPTV Operators in the EU28 region will have the greatest gains, adding nearly 21 million new television subscribers. While most of the leading Cable TV operators in the region show a steady growth gaining almost 3 million subscribers, Cable TV in terms of subscribers with 55 million subscribers by 2025 becomes the second largest Pay TV technology in the EU 28 Market.

Direct-to- Home (DTH) companies will gain nearly 5 million subscribers over the next 10 years, reaching 47 million clients by 2025, while Digital terrestrial television (DTT), the fastest growing technology,  with a CAGR of 5% will add 3 million new paying  subscribers.

“The Multiscreen and OTT services drawing more subscribers into Pay TV market and providers will achieve growth through economies of scale,” says Dr. Qmars Safikhani, Head of Analytical Research at Quantum-Web.
