The concept of smart home despite being it is in its infancy, becomes one of the most important developments in the lifestyle of consumers in the coming years.

The market for smart home in terms of revenues is expected to reach USD 74 billion by 2025, at a 27% CAGR between 2015 and 2025, according to Quantum-Web. North and Latin America will account for 39% of the smart home automation system revenues in 2025, followed by Asia pacific and EU28.

“Smart home revenues are primarily driven by mass market adoption of energy management but home automation and home security revenues are also showing strong revenue growth from the adoption of smart plugs and smoke and heating system monitors,” says Principal Analyst Qmars Safikhani.
Adoption of smart home services is varying in different regions. In 2015, Asia Pacific with over 6 million home automation unit installed is the largest region followed by North and Latin America. The main kits including motion sensors cameras, heating, hot water and smart lights.

By 2025, we expect the number of households, using at least one of the smart home services to exceed 600 million.
With regard to the technology, wireless protocol includes operation in 800- 900 MHz, LAN 802.11a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi 2.4-2.48 GHz spectrum bands.
Low power mesh networking wireless technologies Z-Wave and ZigBee also showing fast adoption in the smart home market. Sigma Designs’ Z-Wave is embedded in thousands of interoperable devices.
