  • London, 2 May 2006 — Netherlands is the most broadband connected country in the world.

According to our latest research paper, "World Broadband Tracker Q4 2005",
at the end of 2005, broadband penetration seems to have reached a turning point judging by the following Graph. South Korea with 25.25% has lost its leadership to the Netherlands in terms of broadband penetration per 100 inhabitants. Now the Netherlands by 25.97 broadband connection for 100 inhabitants, is the world most broadband connected country.

In the ranking by broadband penetration of top 10 countries, all countries are growing faster than South Korea. So it is reasonable to expect that Finland and Switzerland will overtake South Korea by the end of this year.
China, the largest world market with 2 percent penetration per 100 inhabitants is far behind in this ranking; while The USA with 15.1% and Japan with 17.5% as the second and third largest markets are relatively lagging.
