Latest research from Quantum-Web suggests that the fastest growing region on an annualized basis was “Other Europe” with a vivid growth of 77.0%, whereas Latin America with an annual growth rate of 72.1% has shown the second fastest regional trend growth.

According to our findings, the total number of broadband lines with an annual increase of 36.4% from 155.8 million on 31 March 2005 now stands at a thumping 216.6 million in March 2006.

The growth was driven mainly by the 36.4% and 48.7% increase in the number of broadband lines in Asia-Pacific and European Union, to reach 80.3 and 63.8 million respectively by 31 March 2006. The growth in North America was much slower at 24.8%, to reach over 53.6 million lines by the same date.

FWA with 94.8% annual growth shows the fastest access technology whereas FTTx with 82.6% increase in the number of broadband lines to 8.7 million is the third largest access technology. “Other technologies” and Satellite with 35.28.7% and 21.1% are less employed.

Graph 2 shows DSL, Cable Modem and other technologies market share through the first quarter of 2006.
