2009— European Broadband Tariffs Q3 2009
According
to the third quarter European Broadband Tariffs
figures, the gap between the dearest and cheapest
packages is reducing faster in the 8Mb segment than
the 2Mb segment.
Quantum-Web
ongoing broadband tariffs monitoring service in
Europe revels that the average 2Mb no bundled residential
broadband package costs €22.4 whereas a typical
quad play with the same speed costs on average €55.5
or more, 2.4 times more expensive than a no bundled
package. This ratio in the 8Mb is reducing to 1.8
where the typical no bundled and quad play packages
cost €31and €56.1 respectively.

The wider
differentiation in 2Mb range between no bundled
and quad play will push subscribers to spend only
few Euros extra per month and deploy faster broadband
connection which is a suitable platform for wider
choice of broadband applications and services.
The data
for the above analysis has been extrapolated from
Q3 2009 European Broadband Tariffs which details
each broadband package into 20 segments and allows
a comparative cross sectional analysis of more than
1400 packages offered by 168 carriers and telcos
in 41 European countries.
