Abstract
Number of broadband subscribers at the end of Q4 2004
reached 144.9 million. Asia-Pacific with more than
57 million subscribers and 41 per cent annual growth
is the biggest broadband market in the world.
Americas with over 44 million subscribers and 35 per
cent annual growth is the second largest market for
broadband followed by Europe and Middle East-Africa.
Interesting point is the fact that the rates of growth
in Europe and middle East-Africa are higher compare
to those of Asia-Pacific and Americas.
In terms of
subscriber gain, with more than 44 million new subscribers
the number of broadband subscribers soared to over
143 million. Asia-Pacific and Europe with nearly 17
and 16 million new subscribers have been biggest regions
in terms of nominal subscriber gain followed by Americas
and Middle East- Africa.
In Terms of
market share, despite of losing 1 per cent, still
Asia-Pacific is the biggest broadband market in the
world. The fastest-growing region is Europe, which
has gained nearly 4 per cent, is the third world market
for broadband. Americas lost 3 per cent of its market
share while Middle East- Africa position remained
unchanged.
