Abstract
The Turkey’s
market for broadband access is estimated to be over
1.72million at the end of 2005. There are only few
Service Providers that operate in Turkey’s cities.
The broadband market is controlled by the country
incumbent's Turke Telekom and over 99 percent of subscribers
belong to the incumbent.
According to our estimates,
in 2015 the number of broadband subscribers will rise
to over 24 million with a CAGR of 31 percent.
The main access technologies
are cable broadband and xDSL but there is a growing
need for other access technologies such as FWA solutions
in Turkey, especially as an effective means for resolving
the "last mile" issue. The wireless network
improves connection quality in numerous locations
throughout Turkey’s provinces where network
resources are exhausted or too expensive.
